Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee raises awareness during the month of April

Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee Pinwheels for Prevention Kick Off 2015

It was a beautiful spring day for families to enjoy bounce houses and other fun activities.

Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee kicked off child abuse prevention month and their Pinwheels for Prevention campaign at the Nashville Farmer’s Market on Saturday, April 4th. In a new format this year, the kickoff event was an opportunity for families to get outside on a beautiful spring morning and enjoy fun, family-friendly activities. The event was hosted by former all Pro Tennessee Titan Derrick Mason and Stacey Garcia. State Representative John Ray Clemmons and Brian Stephens, Tennessee Children’s Trust Fund Coordinator, both addressed the 400 individuals in attendance. Local children’s groups from Salama Urban Ministries, Metro Parks and Nashville School of the Arts performed throughout the morning. Children’s activities were hosted by partner agencies who work collaboratively with PCAT across the Middle Tennessee area. During April, PCAT and community partners are planting over 175 pinwheel gardens across Tennessee to remind us that every child deserves a great childhood and we all have a role to play in preventing child abuse.
